Three men were injured in a shooting Friday afternoon at a DeKalb County shopping center, police said.

One victim has critical injuries and the other two have moderate injuries after being shot at the Hairston Square shopping plaza, according to DeKalb police. Authorities said the shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Hairston Road at the intersection with Redan Road.

No identities have been released, but police said one of the victims is in his 40s and the other two, including the man in critical condition, are in their 20s.

Several vehicles and at least two businesses were also damaged during the gunfire, police spokesperson Blaine Clark said in a news release.

No arrests have been announced.

“Investigators are working to figure out who fired the shots,” Clark said, later confirming that officials are looking into reports that the incident began as an argument.

About an hour after the shooting, at least a dozen police cruisers and a crime scene investigation van crowded parts of the parking lot. Near a corner in the plaza, shards of glass were scattered across the concrete sidewalk. Several evidence markers had also been placed on the ground as a few officers talked among themselves.

Stores within the shopping complex include the Taste of Jamaica restaurant, Hair It Izz Barber Shop, Toj Express Mart, Best Nails, ADDABang hair company and Hill’s Cleaners.

Several locals stood behind yellow police tape after having stumbled on the scene once the mayhem was over.
