Three juvenile suspects are in custody after a 13-year-old boy was shot in the head in a Mableton neighborhood, according to Cobb County police and arrest warrants.

Cobb officers responded to the 1900 block of Padgett Drive just after 4 p.m. Monday and found the teenager with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He is in critical condition at the hospital, officials said.

On Tuesday morning, police announced they had arrested three juvenile suspects in connection with the incident.

Two of the three suspects, who share the same last name and an unincorporated Austell address, were charged with six counts of aggravated assault/intent to murder after “shooting a pistol at the victim,” according to their warrants. The third suspect faces three counts of the same charge.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution does not name minors who are arrested unless they are being charged as adults.

It appears the shooting was “an isolated incident,” police said, but they did not indicate if the victim knew the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, officials said.
