It’s a packed weekend in Atlanta, and we’re getting blessed with mostly good weather — just very hot and muggy. But it’s the South in July, so what do you expect?

There’s something for everyone going on. Beyoncé is in town; WWE is taking over State Farm Arena with its Saturday Night Main Event; MLB‘s Capital One All-Star Village is going on at the Cobb Galleria Centre; and so much more.

Whether organized fun is your thing or relaxing by the pool is more your speed, it’ll be great weather to get outside — with a little planning.

Both Saturday and Sunday have a classic Georgia summer forecast: sunny to partly cloudy skies that will be interrupted by afternoon thunderstorms, with highs in the low to mid-90s. And with high humidity, it will likely feel closer to 100 degrees or more, but the National Weather Service doesn’t anticipate issuing a heat advisory.

“Overall, peak heat index values will be short-lived, and afternoon thunderstorms could help to moderate temperatures,” NWS forecasters predict.

So, just make sure you have an umbrella and a water bottle on hand. And listen to your body if you need to cool off. When the heat index, a measure of how hot it actually feels, creeps above 100 degrees, it’s harder for your body to cool itself. Perspiration doesn’t easily evaporate when it’s so muggy, so take frequent breaks in the shade and stay hydrated.

Saturday has the highest chance — 30% — for scattered storms. Some of those could “produce locally heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and strong wind gusts,” the Weather Service warns. However, no severe weather is expected over the weekend.

We should see sunnier skies Sunday with fewer storms, but there is still a 20% chance of a stray downpour.

The same pattern extends through at least the beginning of next week as All-Star Week winds up.
