An 8-year-old boy who had been reported missing was found dead Thursday morning, police said.

The child, identified as Bisebwa Mwimule by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office, was reported missing shortly after midnight. Officials said he left a home in the 700 block of North Indian Creek Drive around 7 p.m. Wednesday. The area is just outside I-285 and near Clarkston High School.

By early Thursday morning, the boy had been located in a neighborhood swimming pool, according to police. Authorities did not say how far the pool was from the home but confirmed it was in the same subdivision.

The exact time he was located was not provided.

The ME’s office said Friday that a cause of death was under investigation.

“There’s no information at this point surrounding the circumstances or possible circumstances of his death at this point, nor do I have any details about how he was found,” DeKalb police spokesperson Blaine Clark said.
