A woman has been charged with murder after Gwinnett County police said she stabbed her mother to death in their home Thursday.
Brittany Morris, 33, was arrested and booked into the Gwinnett jail early Friday, hours after she used a roughly 3-inch knife to stab her mother, Janet Morris, 62, “multiple times,” according to police and warrants obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. at a home in the 3000 block of Deshong Drive, where police said both mother and daughter lived. The neighborhood is to the west of the Yellow River and east of the Rockbridge and Arbor Ridge communities.
Police described the incident as a “domestic-related homicide” but did not disclose a possible motive.
Brittany Morris faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony. She was booked just after 1:30 a.m., according to online records.
Investigators said they “quickly identified” the daughter as a person of interest, located her in another part of the county and interviewed her.
