A man accused of killing two people in DeKalb County on Monday evening was apprehended in Henry County a few hours later, officials said.

The suspect, identified as Steven Christopher Mathis, 25, is accused of killing a man and a woman inside a unit at the East Perimeter Pointe Apartments complex, according to a statement by police.

The victims’ names have not been released. Officials said the preliminary details point to the situation being domestic in nature, indicating those involved knew each other though they have not said how.

Officers were called around 7:45 p.m. to the community on Snapfinger Woods Drive. The area is just east of Stonecrest and north of I-20.

No other details have been released by police, citing the ongoing investigation.
