A tractor-trailer that was following another vehicle too closely caused a five-vehicle chain-reaction crash Tuesday morning on I-20 East near the Perimeter in Fulton County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Three people were injured, one of whom was taken to a hospital, the agency said.
The crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m., when the truck rear-ended the vehicle in front of it near Fulton Industrial Boulevard, according to GSP and the Georgia Department of Transportation. All lanes were blocked until around 9 a.m., when one left lane reopened, allowing a few cars to begin moving past the jam. By 10 a.m., all lanes had reopened.
The collision caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife and become disabled, GSP said.
Earlier Tuesday morning on U.S. 78, another crash blocked the eastbound lanes on the ride out of Stone Mountain. That crash happened just past Memorial Drive in DeKalb County around 5:30 a.m., GDOT reported.
At times, all lanes were blocked. By 6:45 a.m., the road had fully reopened.
Officials have not said what caused that crash or if any injuries were reported.
