The man suspected in a Fairburn shooting that left a man dead and a woman wounded was arrested today in Alabama, according to police.

Terry B. Marshall was arrested in Valley, Alabama, about 65 miles southwest of Fairburn along I-85, Sgt. Anthony Bazydlo with Fairburn police said. Marshall, 44, will be extradited to Georgia and charged with murder and aggravated assault, Bazydlo said.

The shooting happened about 11:45 p.m. Monday at the Harbor Lakes apartments off Roosevelt Highway.

Arriving officers found Marshal Tucker, 48, dead of a gunshot wound and Latonia Patterson, 53, wounded, Bazydlo said. Patterson was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Police later identified Marshall as the suspect in the shooting.

“Mr. Marshall was the ex-boyfriend of Ms. Patterson,” Bazydlo said. “The motive for the crime is thought to be jealousy over her new boyfriend.”

Bazydlo previously said Marshall is believed to be living in Valley, and is known to drive an older, black Lincoln Continental.

Details regarding Marshall’s arrest were not released.
