Georgia Tech football begins its 2025 campaign at 8 p.m. Friday.
Georgia Tech’s quest for an appearance in the ACC title game, a destination it has failed to reach in the past 10 seasons, begins against the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder.
Tech is a 4-point favorite over Colorado.
The Yellow Jackets, behind the arm of highly touted senior Haynes King, were picked to finish fourth the ACC in a preseason poll.

Ken Sugiura on Deion Sanders' impact in Boulder and the Colorado University community:
On Tuesday, Colorado coach Deion Sanders announced Kaidon Salter would start at quarterback when the Buffaloes open the season against Georgia Tech at 8 p.m. Friday in Boulder.
“The kid has a ton of experience. Dual threat. He can throw the heck out of the ball, as well,” Sanders said. “He’s the guy. He’s the guy at this point. We’re praying and we’re hoping that you see some of (Julian Lewis) periodically through the game, as well. We would like to get him some reps, as well. But the game (flow) predicates that.”
Salter (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) won a preseason quarterback competition against Lewis, a major recruit out of Carrollton High School who originally committed to Southern California.
Our own Michael Cunningham is picking the Yellow Jackets to start the season 1-0.
Friday's game can be seen as an opportunity to settle a decades-old question: who was the *real* national champion in 1990?
Colorado and Tech split that title through a quirky twist in college football history. The teams have never played each other, but the season opener boasts a rivalry-esque backstory.
Yellow Jackets will wear all white Friday at Colorado.
Deion Sanders saw a valuable performer for the Colorado Buffaloes retire Tuesday — live mascot Ralphie VI.
The 5-year-old buffalo nicknamed Ember is staying home on the ranch this season rather than running the field. The decision was made in the best interest of Ember, who at times showed a reluctance to make the traditional romp around Folsom Field while leading the team. Colorado already has started training her replacement — Ralphie VII — but she’s not quite ready to run.
That means Georgia Tech fans won't see the iconic Colorado live mascot on Friday.
It's true, Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King slept at Bobby Dodd Stadium during preseason practice.
"I’ll say this, (King) is as dedicated of a quarterback that I’ve ever worked with,” Tech quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke said.
Yellow Jackets know the 2025 team has an opportunity to be Brent Key's best yet.
“The thing we’ve talked about since the beginning of the summer,” Key said on 680 The Fan, “is that no one’s external expectations should ever supersede or be greater than what ours are internally.”
