Sequoyah, a 21–point pregame favorite and the No. 4 team in Class 5A, is in trouble against an unranked opponent.
Sequoyah is tied at 21 with River Ridge entering the fourth quarter. The Chiefs trailed 21-14 at halftime.
Sequoyah entered tonight 5-0 overall and 2-0 in region play.
Benedictine exploded in the second quarter for a 42-7 halftime lead. One of the “Games of the Week” might have a running clock in the second half.
Benedictine and Westminster were tied at 14 with 11 minutes left in the half. Then the Cadets scored 28 unanswered.
One top-10 Class 6A team is in danger at halftime.
Colquitt County, which played last Friday and this Tuesday, is off to a rocky start against Rickards. The Packers trail 7-3 at halftime.
Colquitt County entered the game as a 36.5-point underdog, per the Massey Ratings.
Hebron Christian is rolling early against Blessed Trinity, and it has Devon Caldwell to thank.
The running back has scored both of the Lions’ touchdowns and is already well over 100 yards rushing.
Caldwell has scored on runs of 50 and 75 yards to build a 14-0 Hebron lead.
He’s got five carries for 134 yards and two scores, according to Rick Farlow of GDP Sports.
Benedictine scored its third touchdown on some misdirection.
The Cadets executed a double reverse flawlessly, as Chris Frazier scored from 27 yards out.
Southwest went deep into the book for their first touchdown against Central-Macon. And not just the playbook…the rule book, too.
Running back Tkorian Davis took a direct snap for a three-yard score, but with a twist. The snap didn’t actually go through the center’s legs, but actually a toss to the right to Davis, who lined up behind a convoy of offensive linemen. Check it out.
North Oconee is the defending state champion and the top-ranked team in Class 4A.
And they have looked every bit the part this season, including an explosive first quarter against East Forsyth. The Titans are out to a 24-0 lead in the first quarter.
Gainesville is looking to bounce back from a frustrating 43-21 loss to national powerhouse Carrollton.
The Red Elephants are off to a strong start, too, returning a 50-yard pick six for the game’s first points.
UGA head coach Kirby Smart has touched down at Westminster via helicopter.
The Bulldogs are off this Saturday, leaving a recruiting opportunity for Smart. Five-star EDGE and Texas Tech commit LaDamion Guyton is in town tonight for visiting Benedictine.
