“TRIONDA,” the ball for next year’s World Cup, was unveiled by FIFA on Thursday.
The name, translated from Spanish, means three waves. The World Cup will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Atlanta is scheduled to host eight matches in the tournament.
The ball features a red, blue and green color scheme. It includes a maple leaf for Canada, an eagle for Mexico and a star for the U.S.
Its four panels have deep seams, which FIFA touts will produce in-flight stability.
Each ball used in the tournament will incorporate a motion-sensing chip that will send data to the match officials, including in relation to offside situations.
