A man is facing multiple charges after police said he shot himself in the arm inside a terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

Atlanta police were called around 3:30 p.m. to the South Terminal’s upper-level baggage claim area and found the 59-year-old suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left arm, according to officials. His name was not released.

The baggage claim area is outside the secured area of the airport.

“APD arrived on the scene and secured the firearm,” airport spokesperson Herschel Grangent Jr. said in a statement. “The individual was transported to a local hospital, and no one else was injured.”

Once the man is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Clayton County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and reckless conduct, police said.
