Atlanta United will compete in next year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the tournament announced Thursday. Atlanta United didn’t compete in this year’s tournament.

Atlanta United, which won the competition in 2019, will begin with a round of 32 match April 14 or 15.

Eighty teams will compete in the 111th edition of the competition, which will have a $1 million purse and the winner will have a place in the 2027 CONCACAF Champions Cup. The tournament will consist of seven rounds.

Because it hasn’t yet determined if Atlanta United will host, the stadium site wasn’t announced. Atlanta United has typically hosted the lower-round matches in the tournament at Kennesaw State.

The tournament’s round of 16 is scheduled to be played April 28 and 29, quarterfinals May 19 and 20, semifinals on Sept. 15 or 16 and the final Oct. 21.
