Spain, which will play at least two World Cup matches next summer in Atlanta, retained its No. 1 spot in FIFA’s rankings released Monday.

Spain will play Cape Verde, which moved up one spot to No. 67, on June 15 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in its first group-stage match.

Regarding other teams that will play group-stage matches in Atlanta:

South Africa, which remained at No. 61, will play the winner of a playoff featuring Denmark, North Macedonia, Czechia or Ireland on June 18. Denmark remained at No. 21; Macedonia dropped one spot to No. 66; Czechia remained at No. 44; and Ireland remained at No. 59.

Saudi Arabia, which will play Spain on June 21, remained at No. 60.

Morocco remained at No. 11. It last made the top 10 in April 1998. Haiti, its opponent June 24, stayed at No. 84.

Uzbekistan, which stayed at No. 50, will play the winner of a playoff featuring three teams June 27. DR Congo remained at No. 56; Jamaica remained at No. 70; and New Caledonia dropped one spot to No. 150.

Atlanta’s remaining World Cup matches:

  • July 1: Round of 32, noon
  • July 7: Round of 16, noon
  • July 15: Semifinal, 3 p.m.
