Kennesaw State’s modest two-game win streak came to an end Saturday, as its offense took the night off. The Owls had their second-lowest point output of the season in a 77-58 loss to Jacksonville State on Saturday.

The Owls, which had scored at least 70 points in eight straight games before Saturday’s loss, was held under 60 points for only the second time this season. The finished with a field goal percentage of 31%, including just 7-of-34 shooting from 3-point range.

RJ Johnson and Perry Smith Jr. led the Owls (14-9, 6-6 Conference USA) with 12 points apiece. Jaden Harris added 10 points.

Mostapha El Moutaouakkil scored 26 points for Jacksonville State, which got revenge for a loss to the Owls nearly one month ago (January 10).

El Moutaouakkil also contributed seven rebounds for the Gamecocks (13-10, 8-4). Jaye Nash added 19 points, while Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. finished with 12 points and three steals.

El Moutaouakkil led the Gamecocks with 19 points in the first half to help put them up 37-22 at the break. Jacksonville State pulled away with an 8-0 run in the second half to extend a 13-point lead to 21 points.
