Tia Mitchell
Tia Mitchell is the AJC’s Washington Bureau Chief. In this role, she writes about Georgia’s congressional delegation, campaigns, elections and the impact that decisions made in D.C. have on residents of the Peach State. She is also a co-host of the "Politically Georgia" podcast. Before arriving in Washington, Tia served as the AJC’s DeKalb County reporter.
Prior to joining the paper in 2017, Tia spent her entire career in Florida covering local and state government for publications like the Tampa Bay Times and The Florida Times-Union.
Tia is active with the National Association of Black Journalists where she serves as convention programming co-chair and immediate past chair of the Political Task Force. She is also a member of the board of the Washington Press Club Foundation and a member of the Gridiron Club, the nation's oldest and most prestigious journalism organization.
Tia is a graduate of Florida A&M University and is originally from Louisville, Ky. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
