From visual arts to music to theater, the Atlanta metro area has an active arts scene offering something for nearly everyone. This upcoming week, highlights include Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” a Tony Award winner for best musical comedy, appearing at the Fox Theatre, as well as “All’s Fair in Love and Shakespeare,” the debut of a new series from North Georgia Shakespeare.

The following 12 events will help you explore Atlanta’s arts and culture in the upcoming week.

“Pixels at Play”

In a sweeping multimedia exhibition, Billy Clifton-Strawn’s work treats digital media as something flexible and alive, expanding into projections, framed prints, illuminated surfaces and textile forms.

“O” by Cirque du Soleil

Merging experiential media and immersive technology, Cosm’s Shared Reality places guests inside an 87-foot wraparound LED dome to enhance Cirque du Soleil’s show “O” in 12K+ resolution.

Friday Jazz at the High

The High Museum of Art invites guests to enjoy three areas where musicians will play throughout the evening and view the museum’s works on view, take a docent-led tour and indulge in a drink and light bites. Performers are vocalist Robin Latimore and multi-instrumentalists Born Foster and Vinnie D’Agostino.

“All’s Fair in Love and Shakespeare”

North Georgia Shakespeare launches its new Pop Up Shakespeare series with this comedy by Amelia Fischer that features scenes by the Bard performed by professional actors. It centers on Victorian historical figures William Macready, Charlotte Cushman and Helena Faucit, who are swept into scenes from “Romeo and Juliet,” “Much Ado About Nothing” and more.

“Orlando”

Sarah Ruhl’s adaptation of the iconic love letter Virginia Woolf wrote for her lover, Virginia Sackville-West, “Orlando” takes the viewer on a fantastical trip through space, time and gender.

“Dolly”

Wolfgang Gallery presents a solo exhibition of new paintings by Lucy Luckovich that examines how desire is shaped by systems of power, technology and consumption.

“The Foreigner”

“The Foreigner” by Larry Shue is presented by the Renegade Theatre Company and tells the story of a proofreader from England who arrives with his friend at a rural Georgia fishing lodge. The friend concocts a plan to help the shy proofreader, Charlie, to feel more comfortable around strangers by pretending he doesn’t speak English. But then Charlie unexpectedly becomes the keeper of their secrets.

Violinist Barry Roseman

Barry Roseman, a cancer surgeon by day and a jazz-playing violinist by night, performs two shows at the Velvet Note.

Cereal Saturday

Designed to be appropriate for the entire family, the monthly Cereal Saturday program is a curated two-hour block of favorite puppet TV shows from the past. Guests can relieve some of the classics that brought them joy and introduce them to their kids. The laid-back environment is made to look like a comfortable living room and has cereal, milk, juice and coffee available for purchase.

George Long: “Spolia” discussion

Named for the architectural practice of reusing materials from older structures in the construction of something new, George Long’s exhibition features familiar elements that are dismantled and rebuilt. He will discuss his works on Saturday, July 18, with the exhibition continuing another week.

Monty Python’s “Spamalot”

The Regions Bank Broadway in Atlanta series continues with the Tony Award-winning best musical comedy “Spamalot,” which includes flying cows, killer rabbits, rubbery shrubbery and more, as well as songs such as “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.”
